Due to an accident on Route 16 towards Pleasant Hill near Vaughn Road, busses will be delayed. We are routing buses through alternate routes to get them home. We expect at least a 15 to 20 minute delay.
Keeley Sturms, of Grantsville, WV, is the daughter of Derrick Lamp and Myranda Lamp. She has been accepted to Glenville State University. She plans to major in Criminal Justice. She has earned CPR, and OSHA certifications and also received an OSHA card and Stop the Bleed training. While in school she attended Calhoun Gilmer Career Center and took law and public safety. After she completes college she plans to become a social worker.
Amelia Cain, of Mt. Zion, WV, is the daughter of Theresa and Mike Cain and Eric Blake. Amelia plans to major in cosmetology. Her academic awards include Young Writers winner (9th and 10th), she was Drum Captain, and 2022 Homecoming Queen. She was also a member of Marching Band, Jazz Band, Concert Band, and Student Council. She is artistic, loves music, enjoys writing, and all things beauty. Her 5-year plan is to be working as a make-up artist.
Summer Parsons, of Millstone, WV, is the daughter of Robby and Stephanie Parsons. She plans to attend BridgeValley Community and Technical College to major in Diagnostic Medical Sonography. While in high school she was on the Honor Roll, was a member of the softball team, and was a cheerleader, and she participated in FFA. She was inducted into the National Honor Society and Mu Alpha Theta. She enjoys spending time with her family and friends as well as hunting during her free time. Following college graduation in 2025, she plans to find employment as an Ultrasound Technician.
Chelsea McCumbers, of Mt. Zion, WV, is the daughter of Tony McCumbers and Julie Brenneman. She plans to attend Glenville State University to major in Elementary Education. She is on the Honor Roll. She is a member of the varsity volleyball and softball teams. She enjoys being with friends and family and her long-term goal is to graduate from GSU with her Elementary Education degree to become a teacher.
Jaelyn Jett, of Orma, WV, is the daughter of Steve and Jenna Jett. She has been accepted to Glenville State University, Alderson and Broadus University, University of Charleston, Ashland University, Seton Hall, Marietta College, and Bethany College. She has been awarded Bethany College Full-Ride Scholarship, Seton Hall Full-Ride Scholarship, Seton Hall President’s Award of Scholarship, and Seton Hall Bayley Scholarship. Her academic honors include: National Honor Society (President), Spanish Honor Society (President), Mu Alpha Theta, National Society of High School Scholars, National Society of Leadership and Success. Her high school activities include: Student Council President (Senior), Student Council Secretary/Vice-President (Junior), Class President (Freshman), National history Day, Social Studies Fair, FFA, Calhoun Youth Livestock Show and Sale participant, Girls Rise Up event, Trig Star Competition, HOBY, Honor Roll, and WV Girls State. Her special honors include: Social studies Fair Regionals 1st Place (Freshman), Social Studies Fair (Senior) 3rd Place at state competition, National History Day Senior Division Outstanding Affiliate National Award (Freshman-Junior), National History Day State competition 1st Place (Freshman-Senior), Billy Michael Student Leadership Award, Math Field Day Team (Junior and Senior), FFA Prepared Public Speaking Regionals 1st Place (Senior), FFA Secretary (Junior), FFA Vice President (Senior), Forestry and Sustainable Biomaterial Essay Contest State Winner 3rd Place (Senior). College activities include: National Society of Leadership and Success and Glenville State University Honors Program. Jaelyn loves to read, craft, spend time with her family, be outdoors with her goats and cows, and research. During her time in high school, she completed her Associate’s Degree in General Studies. She is a lifelong member of Louis Chapel United Methodist Church and is currently involved in their youth program—BOOST (Building on Our Salvation Together). During the summer of her junior year she was able to go to New Orleans and receive the Billy Michael Student Leadership Award. Also, while in high school, she competed in National History Day yearly winning three national titles. Following high school graduation, Jaelyn’s 5-year plan is to receive her Bachelor’s and Master’s Degrees in History and Political Science and Women and Gender Studies. She plans to be a historian and go into the political field.
Lainee Mace, of Millstone, WV, is the daughter of Wade and Kim Mace. She has been accepted to Marietta College, Washington State Community College, Marshall University, and Glenville State University. She intends to attend Washington State Community College to major in Health and Wellness and Radiologic Technology. She is a recipient of the Compass Scholarship from Marietta College and The Dean’s Scholarship from Washington State Community College. She has been a county level Math Field Day winner. She has been inducted into National Society of High School Scholars and National Honor Society. Lainee enjoys riding horses, spending time with family and friends, and being outdoors. Her plan is to work in a hospital or off-site facility as an x-ray technician. She plans to live close to home following college.
Caelan Harper, of Grantsville, WV, is the daughter of Stoney and Sarah Harper. She plans to attend Preston’s Beauty School to major in Cosmetology. She is a member of the Marching Band, Color Guard, Dance Team, Theatre, Show Girls, and Choir. She is a CTE Graphic Design complete and was the President of the CTE Graphic Design program. Her 5-year plan is to become a full-time cosmetologist.
Lindsey Schoolcraft, of Orma, WV, is the daughter of Jerome and Donna Schoolcraft. She plans to attend Roane-Jackson Technical Center to complete Cosmetology program. Her high school activities include cheerleading, volleyball, softball, FFA, 4-H, VEX, HOSA, and SkillsUSA. She is a member of National Technical Honor Society, Moving Onward and Upward (MOU), CTE Honors in Nursing and Agriculture. She has enjoyed raising and showing 4-H and FFA livestock and spending time with her family and buggy riding. Lindsey’s 5-year plan following graduation, Lindsey plans to work as a nursing assistant until she begins Cosmetology school. Upon completion of the cosmetology program she plans to open her own salon in Calhoun County.
Jocelynn Yeager, of Grantsville, WV, is the daughter of Kevin and Shauna Yeager. She has joined the United States Air Force with the intent to train to be a Nuclear Chemist. She has been Student Council Treasurer, and has earned her certification in Hospitality. Her activities include: She earned varsity letter four years in volleyball and basketball and for two years in track and field. In track, she broke the school record in Shotput, broke the school record for Discus. In basketball, she earned Honorable Mention LKC 2021-2022 and 2022-2023. Academic honors include: NSHS Student Scholar, CTE Graphic Design Completer, and qualified to be a Graphic Design Assistant. Her 5-year plan is to be Active Duty in the USAF.
Mason Siwicki, of Grantsville, WV, is the son of Matt and Miranda Siwicki. He has been accepted to West Virginia University and will be attending as an honors student, majoring in Biology. He is a recipient of the Promise Scholarship and WVU Scholarship of Distinction. He was an LKC Scholar Athlete Freshman and Sophomore years. He has been a member of the basketball and track and field teams. Academic honors and accomplishments include: County Social Studies Fair winner, County Math Field Day winner, Glenville State University Trig-Star Competition-1st Place, AC Energy and Power Complete, Highest Honor Graduate, and he will be graduating high school with 30 college credit hours. Mason is interested in student organizations and student government. His student organization memberships include: National Honor Society-Treasurer, Student Council Class Representative, and Mu Alpha Theta. Mason enjoys traveling, hiking, snorkeling, and skiing. His long-term goal is to become a radiologist. Upon completing his undergraduate degree, Mason plans to attend medical school and pursue his MD.
Emily Elizabeth Bell, of Big Bend, WV, is the daughter of Ricky and Jessica Bell. She has been accepted to Wingate University, Charleston Southern University, and Arizona State University. She plans to major in Forensic Psychology with a minor in Criminology or Pre-Law. She was a member of Marching Band, Jazz Ensemble, Brass Ensemble, Percussion Ensemble, Showgirls, and HS Dance. While in Marching Band she was the Brass Section Leader for two years. She plans to participate in Marching Band and Jazz Ensemble during college as well. She was inducted into Mu Alpha Theta and National Honor Society. Emily’s 5-year plan is to work in Criminal Justice; possibly becoming a homicide detective. She plans to focus on earning her PhD in Forensic Psychology and testify as an expert witness in court.
Aislin Summers, of Orma, WV, is the daughter of Michael (Mike) and Connie Summers. She has been accepted to Glenville State University and Fairmont State University. She plans to major in Biology with a minor in Business. She loves to sing bluegrass music and continuing her work in ministry. Her high school activities include: Band (2019-2021), Choir (2021), Track and Field (2019-2022), STARS (2018-2023), FFA (2019-2022), and 4-H (2022). Academic honors include: Social Studies Fair 1st Place-Freshman, Governor’s School for the Arts, HOBY, HOBY Academic Allstar Award, and National Honor Society for High School Scholars. In five years, Aislin hopes to be in her first year of medical school on her way to becoming a Pediatrician.
Joshua Hixon, of Big Bend, WV, is the son of Elvin and Melissa Hixon. He has been accepted to West Virginia University-Parkersburg, where he intends to major in Applied Science in Computer Information Technology with a concentration in Cybersecurity and Network Administration. He has been awarded the Promise Scholarship. In high school Josh participated in Learn and Earn to familiarize himself further in his career path. He was a member of the cross country and track and field teams. He was also in concert band and choir. Academic honors include: Perfect Attendance, Math Field Day Honorable Mention-9th grade, National Technical Honor Society, and CTE Honors. He enjoys running, fixing computers, working on the farm, playing Dance Dance Revolution, and working on cars. His 5-year plan is to get his degree, then get a job in the Morgantown or Parkersburg area as a Network Administrator.
Brooklyn Harris, of Mt. Zion, WV, is the daughter of Jason and Jessica Harris. She has been accepted to the University of Cumberland-online and intends to earn her Certified Nursing Assistant certification. In high school, she participated in cheerleading. Her post-graduation plan is to work.
Madison Westfall, of Orma, WV, is the daughter of Derek Westfall and Miranda Shartiger. She has been accepted to Charleston School of Beauty. She has been a member of the volleyball, basketball, and softball teams. She has been inducted into Mu Alpha Theta.
Brooklyn Swisher, of Rosedale, WV, is the daughter of Brian Burns and Rebecca Swisher. She has been accepted to Marshall University, Marietta College, and Glenville State University. She plans to major in Criminal Investigations with a minor in Psychology. She has earned CPR and OSHA certifications. She has competed at the Technology Student Association (TSA) competition. Her academic honors include: Honor Roll and National Technical Honor Society. During high school she has been a member of the softball team and theatre. Following graduation, Brooklyn’s goal is to help those in need and create a safer environment for everyone in the U.S. and wherever she ends up during her lifetime. Her 5-year plan is to graduate from college and secure steady employment in criminal investigations.
Kason Hupp, of Grantsville, WV, is the son of Doyle and Shirley Hupp. He has been accepted to Glenville State University where he plans to major in Athletic Conditioning and Coaching. He has been a member of the varsity golf and track and field teams. His academic honors include: National Honor Society, National Technical Honor Society, and Honor Roll. His 5-year plan is to earn a Bachelor's Degree and then obtain employment as an athletic coach at the high school or college level.
Elijah Dickey, of Chloe, WV, is the son of David and Cathy Dickey. He has been accepted to WV Wesleyan University, Full Sail University, and Davis & Elkins College. He intends to major in Theatre and Film. He is the recipient of the Creative Minds Scholarship. During high school he has been involved in Theatre, Band Roadie, and Performing Arts Spectacular Master of Ceremonies. His academic honors include: Mu Alpha Theta and National Honor Society.
Lacy Jo Hicks, of Chloe, WV, is the daughter of Scott and Amanda Hicks. She has been accepted to Glenville State University, Marshall University, and Fairmont State University. She plans to attend Glenville State University and major in Nursing. She is the recipient of the Oil and Gas Association of West Virginia Scholarship. Her academic honors include: Highest Honor Graduate, WV-Mat Academic All-State Team member, Lindsey Mann Achievement Award recipient, National Honor Society, Mu Alpha Theta, Spanish Honor Society, and Moving Onward and Upward (MOU). She was a member of the cross country, track and field, and cheerleading teams. She was on the Honor Roll all four years of high school. Her plans after college are to become a flight nurse.
