Good Morning Folks & HAPPY MONDAY to You from your ChangeMaker Champions Crew! We didn’t mention it last week but it’s important for you to know that MAY is Mental Health Month & this week is Children’s Mental Health Acceptance Week. We do think that’s kind of an odd name for such a special week, but the truth is, it was changed from Mental Health Awareness Week to Acceptance week just a few years ago in an effort to help the world understand we should be as okay with saying “I’ve got a therapy appointment today…” as we are in saying “I’m going to the dentist,” or “to the doctor to get my physical.” because Health IS health! Recognizing our mental health is just as important as our physical health & accepting individuals who struggle – for a period, or for a lifetime – is critical to reducing the fear, worry, blame & shame that families & their loved ones experience. Recognizing the importance of mental health increases the likelihood that those who are in need will seek the support & treatment they deserve. Mental health is more than treatment, it's support for our wellbeing before problems or issues ever occur. This week is a great opportunity for us to #ShineALight on the struggles we all have & to understand how easily we can access help in this day & age. We’re looking forward to sharing some things with you this week that we can ALL do to elevate our own mental well-being, as well as how to know when we may need help outside of ourselves. May was first declared as Mental Health Awareness Month in 1949, but Children’s Mental Health Awareness & Acceptance Week & Day was only established in 2006. This week you’ll see us doing something small here at school that hopefully FEELS BIG to each of our classmates. We are grateful for a week & day during this month to focus on the mental health needs of kids like us, because we absolutely deserve it! We hope you’ll take a moment this week to reallyyyyyy think about YOUR mental health & how it plays a role in your health overall. Our health is all interconnected & we deserve to have these conversations before problems arise to keep us healthy & safe. #mondayMOTIVATION #MondayMojo #MotivationalMonday #MentalHealthMonday #KeepersOfLife #youmatterimatter #MentalHealthMatters #helpHOPElive #CCMHS #MentalHealthMonth #ChildrensMentalHealthAcceptanceWeek #CHANGEMAKERS #ChangeMakerChampions
