Calhoun County Middle/High School

Calhoun County Middle School Volleyball will be holding our volleyball camp on July 15-17th 4-6pm in middle school gym it is open to all 6-8th graders interested in playing volleyball this coming season. Everyone will need a sports physical to participate. Gym shoes and knee pads would be a plus. Thanks if any questions you can message Charlie Starcher or Samantha Moles . 5th Grade students were awarded certificates of excellence for their hard work in certain subjects. Mrs. Summers awarded ELA students: Allie Frederick, Silas Cunningham, and Parker Hoskins. Mrs. Mace awarded Math students: Alexandria Askew-Jarvis, Parker Hoskins, Kallah Reip, and Allie Frederick. Science students were also awarded. They are: Jason Powell, Bentley Snodgress, and Zaden Cadle. Social Studies students awarded were: Jaelyn McCumbers, Alex King, and Evan Griffin.

Calhoun County Schools will be dismissing at noon on Friday, May 24th. Have a great summer, stay safe, and see you soon!

Senior Spotlight: Gina Danielle Toppings What are your plans after graduation? This fall I will be attending WGU to study accounting. In the future I hope to find a job as an accountant. The West Virginia Department of Education is honored to announce the 2024 Golden Horseshoe winners for Calhoun County. Since 1931, students have been honored as knights of the Golden Horseshoe having demonstrated exceptional knowledge of West Virginia history on the state-administered exam. This year, Jasmyne Tingler, & Ryleigh Crislip-Garrett will join the ranks of WV citizens who have won this prestigious award. These ladies will have an opportunity to be recognized at the Golden Horseshoe ceremony on June 11, 2024, at the West Virginia Culture Center in Charleston, WV.

Senior Spotlight Alyssa Marie Yeager Plans after graduating: After high school graduation I plan to work a part-time job and also attend Glenville State University to obtain my Bachelor's Degree in Psychology. After that, I plan to complete more schooling to become a Criminal Psychologist. Favorite quote: "Life is tough, but so are you." Advice: Do your work the best you possibly can the first time around, and be prepared because things do get tough. But if you believe in yourself and stay determined, you'll do just fine.

Senior Spotlight Grace McKenzie Vincent Plans after graduation ~ I plan to attend Glenville State University and obtain a bachelor’s degree in business management, I plan to cheer for GSU as well. For the upcoming seniors take it slow it goes by fast and don’t forget to do your FAFSA. Honors ~ This year I have been a part of Student Council as historian, Spanish National Honors Society’s Vice President, President of CTE Graphic Design, and President of CTE Energy and Power.

Senior Spotlight Jacy R. Stehman Future plans- I will be attending Glenville State University to obtain my bachelor's degree in business management, and I will be minoring in marketing and sales. I have also signed onto the Glenville State cheer team for the 2024-2025 academic year. Calhoun County Schools is proud to announce that Emily Grace Anderson will be continuing her academic and twirling career at Marshall University. Emily has earned a spot on the Majorette Line and will be taking the field with the Marching Thunder. Emily is honored and excited to be a part of The Herd Family!

Senior Spotlight Lindsay Mae Smith What are your plans after graduation? I honestly don't know yet, but once I get out and start looking for jobs I'll figure it out. Senior Spotlight Felicity Hope Marks Plans after graduation: I plan to go to BridgeValley this fall to get my Associate’s of Science, and then finish out a Bachelor's at WVU Keyser. I want to be a field study biologist. I've always preferred animals and hope to find plenty of peace working with them in the forest daily. Life gets dull when worry is all you see. Don't confine yourself to a boring lifestyle, do what brings you joy, do things you're passionate about. Live frivolously.
