February 8th, 2020, the Calhoun Lady Devils cruised to an easy 61-47 victory over Saint Mary’s in the WVHIT Championship game. The tournament was played at Clay-Battelle High School, which is located in Monongalia County, around a 3 hour drive from Calhoun Middle High School. It was a stellar night for Josie Montgomery and Savannah Cunningham , as they were named to the WVHIT All-Tournament team. Josie scored 19 points while Savannah scored 10. Kaylin Parsons destroyed the Blue Devils in almost every aspect. She racked up 22 points, 12 rebounds, and had 5 blocks. Madison Dennis and Karlie Whited had 3 points each. Joselynn Yeager and Ella Hess each scored 2 points. Megan Harding and Madison Westfall both played valuable minutes, though neither of them scored.

The Lady Red Devils showed they were capable of passing the ball, racking up 12 assists. Defense also proved to be effective as Calhoun came up with 11 steals. Josie Montgomery led the team in steals with 5. Savannah Cunningham complimented Josie’s 5 steals with 4 of her own. Madison Dennis added 2 steals to the total. The win over Saint Mary’s improved Calhoun’s record to 14-6 overall. Calhoun returns to action on Tuesday night when they entertain Pocahontas County at home and hold their “Senior Night”.
